The Day Fell in Love with Written Words

THE DAY I FELL IN LOVE WITH WORDS

I’ve loved books since elementary school—maybe longer and I just don’t remember.  I still remember going to the school library for the first time and scanning the bookshelves for the perfect book to check out for the week.  When I came to the shelves marked “H” a title caught my eye.  B is for Betsy.  I’m not sure why this was the book I chose, but it opened up a world that I had never visited and introduced me to friends I would have never met.  Then one day the librarian tapped me on the shoulder and told me that I had ‘outgrown’ my beloved Carolyn Haywood books.  I reluctantly looked at the books on the shelves and discovered Beverly Cleary and Judy Blume (I have a collection in case I have a little girl one day).

My fascination with written words continued through junior high and high school. I even volunteered to work in the school library, so I would know when new books arrived. In college, took literature classes as electives. My professor introduced me to authors I still love today (thanks Mrs. H). My love for reading helped me make a natural progression to writing, thus the publication of my first novel entitled Everything Her Heart Desires.

I am a native of Jackson, Tennessee.  I graduated from Lambuth University with a degree accounting and from the University of Tennessee with a degree in business administration. Working in the business world is my “real job”,  but writing is my passion—my ministry. I’d love to be a renowned author one day. But if that is not the path God has chosen for me, I’ll keep writing and hopefully what I write will fall into the hands of the person who needs it most.
